No matter the market, buyers’ or sellers’ market shouldn’t stop you from fixing up your home before you list it. As you know, kitchens sell homes. However, what you might not know is how to create a space that seals the deal. If you update your kitchen’s finishes and stage the space properly, your home won’t be sitting on the market for long.

The kitchen is often considered the heart of a home —a place where meals are created and consumed every day and a space where guests tend to gather during parties or other get-togethers. The paint you choose for this room needs to be durable enough to accommodate unique temperature changes and surface challenges.

Cabinets are one of the first things buyers will notice about your kitchen. If your cabinets aren’t in tiptop shape, a new paint might be the best and most economical way to give them a modern makeover since new cabinets can easily cost more than $10,000.

A do-it-yourself paint job can cost a couple hundred dollars (plus hours of tutorials). If you don’t think you can pull it off, hire a professional. Expect to pay a pro anywhere from several hundred dollars to $2,000.

This kitchen the seller used a handy-man to paint the cabinets but also to install crown molding on top of the cabinets for a finished look. We also made a wall and into a half wall, opening views from the kitchen to the family room and all the big beautiful windows and their wooded views.

The paint we used was Valspar Cabinet Enamel Semi-Gloss Latex Paint, purchased at Lowe’s. The refrigerator was updated as well as the kitchen faucet…we kept the original hardware.

If you plan to sell soon, give me a call, Jay Webster 302-740-0043…sticking with today's kitchen trends does not have to be costly.
